28 Feb EveryScape’s Interior Tours Integrated into YP.com
AT&T Interactive’s YP.com has become just the second website after Bing to integrate the interior imagery system from EveryScape. This feature allows users to enjoy a virtual tour of the interior of a shop or store or restaurant of their choice.
Jim Schoonmaker, CEO of EveryScape, has indicated that similar deals are in the works for the future, emphasizing the synergies between the company’s deals with both YP.com and Bing. AT&T currently provides Bing with local advertising.
EveryScape CEO Jim Schoonmaker told me that more of these deals were coming but highlighted the “synergies” between his deals with Bing and YP.com. AT&T provides local advertising to Bing.
When asked how Everyscape’s system differs from a company made video tour, Schoonmaker stated that videos tended to feel like sales pitches that tended to put off consumers, while “webscapes” like those employed by EveryScape’s system gave them the power to explore a location on their own.
Additionally, Schoonmaker stated that virtual tours made a consumer more likely to buy from a featured business. The press release backed this assertion up with numbers, saying that 87% of consumers that explored a business via EveryScape ended up having a positive affinity for the featured establishment, with 70% of those consumers stating that they were more likely to visit the location in person.
Google has been spotted trying to get in on this trend by collecting interior photos of local businesses. Also, Mok Oh, founder of EveryScape, has recently been named by WHERE.com as “Chief Innovation Officer”.
